Penned by Henrik Fisker himself, the Ocean is a five-passenger electric SUV aimed squarely at the Tesla Model Y and Ford Mustang Mach-E. With its stylish design and clean lines, the Ocean differentiates itself from the rest of the segment, blending a more conventional profile with less conventional detailing.

The production design is very similar to the concept, with futuristic-seeming thin headlights and taillights along with relatively spare ornamentation. The rear windows cut up towards the back, giving it a jaunty side view, while the straight character lines also help with the boxy look instead of it feeling like a lifted hatchback.

With the 2022 Fisker Ocean electric SUV on track to begin production in November, two models are making their way to the L.A. Auto Show. At least one of the preview models will feature a colorful interior, and the EV carmaker insists that a bright white interior will not be the only option. “Cars have been suffering from a bit of boredom when it comes to colors. We all know that about 70 percent of cars are either white, black, or silver. It is the same with black and gray interiors,” said Henrik Fisker. Besides big sellers such as white and black, Fisker will be offering a range of interior colors, including on the base model, as well as the highest trim.

Fisker says it has additional interior surprises, that, unfortunately, we are not getting a glimpse of until closer to the Ocean’s official release in 2022. However, Fisker did disclose a few details, including an apparently groundbreaking technology used for forming the seats into unconventional shapes and laying out the seams in a way not seen before. The company also filed a patent for “interesting usability” in the infotainment screen that it claims no other automaker has built into cars yet. Among other noteworthy tidbits: the interior will be easier to clean than is typical, have plenty of storage space, and include a highly versatile center console.

So what else is coming to the L.A. Auto Show? Fisker is showcasing two of the exterior paint colors available at launch and is revealing all the pertinent information on the powertrain, technology, and battery packs. In addition, there might be a teaser video on the ongoing PEAR project, and Fisker plans to give a sneak peek at a special edition based on the Ocean, a collaboration with a local artist.
