2023 Genesis G90

2023 Genesis G90, All you want to know about a Great Car

2023 GENESIS G90: PREVIEW, PRICING, RELEASE DATE

The world is finally seeing Genesis as a true luxury brand that can spar with the best from Germany. Showcasing all of its luxury and technology features, Genesis is coming out with a fully redesigned G90 for the 2023 model year. A new design, revised technology, and updated engines will help the 2023 Genesis G90 feel like a bonafide flagship car from the South Korean luxury brand.

On the outside, the 2023 G90 wears a bold, daring design that shares many design elements with the automaker’s smaller vehicles. The crest grille has grown in size, dominating the front end, while two razor-thin headlights that are integrated with the turn signals behind the front fenders make the G90’s face look unique. The triangular taillights are connected by a full-width light bar, while a second full-width horizontal bar sits below the taillights. Large exhaust outlets are integrated directly into the rear bumper. Stunning wheel designs, a large amount of chrome, and angular lines help the G90 feel bolder and fresher than the previous model year.

Just like the outside, the inside of the 2023 G90 gets a major makeover. The dashboard features curvier lines and the infotainment system is now connected in one single unit with the digital instrument cluster. The air vents have moved to one horizontal line across the dashboard, while the HVAC controls have moved to the lower part of the center console. Genesis will continue to offer a rotary dial for its infotainment screen and a few buttons that sit next to a dial for the shift knob. We expect the 2023 G90 to offer an abundant amount of space.

Genesis hasn’t confirmed the G90’s list of standard features yet, but we expect the sedan to be a heavyweight on the tech front. Things like a fingerprint scanner, a digital key, active noise cancellation, a 23-speaker Bang and Olufsen audio system, a fragrance system, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, and over-the-air updates will be available. Available UV-C LED lamps in the rear armrests can also sterilize small items.

At the moment, Genesis has only confirmed one powertrain for the G90. The large sedan will come with a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine that’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Output will be around 375 horsepower. We’re not sure if Genesis will offer the G90 with a V8 engine. An electrified version of the G90 is also expected to be available and will be called the Electrified G90. Rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive are expected to be offered. The G90 will also be available with an adaptive suspension called Preview ECS that can scan the road and prepare the suspension for a smooth ride.

Safety features for the 2023 Genesis G90 haven’t been announced yet, but we expect the large sedan to be offered with an extensive list of equipment. The previous model year G90 came with nearly every advanced driver-assist feature as standard equipment under the sun. We don’t think that will change for the new G90 and we think Genesis could add some more high-tech equipment for the 2023 model year.

PRICING & RELEASE DATE

A specific date on when the 2023 Genesis G90 will go on sale hasn’t been announced yet. We expect deliveries of the large sedan to start in 2022.

Information on pricing for the 2023 Genesis G90 isn’t available. As an all-new model, we expect pricing for the 2023 G90 to be more expensive than last year’s sedan. Pricing for the current G90 starts at $75,495 (with destination) and goes up to $81,745.

The 2023 Genesis G90 will compete with the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7-Series, Audi A8, and Lexus ES

2023 Genesis G90 Interior Review: You’ll Want to Live in Here

The new G90 takes comfort and attention to detail to the next level.

We get excited when ordinary becomes extraordinary, and that’s exactly what you’ll find with the 2023 Genesis G90. The Korean automaker’s flagship sedan receives a complete makeover, and the new generation takes the existing G90 to a whole new level. Make no mistake, today’s G90 is already a wonderful car; it impressed us so much, it won a comparison against the BMW 7 Series, Lexus LS, and Lincoln Continental.

The 2023 Genesis G90 is a step in the right direction, building on the outgoing car while adding more luxury features and technology that focus on passengers’ emotional state as well as on ergonomics. We spent a couple of hours with the 2023 Genesis G90 at the Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, home of golf’s Genesis Invitational, and although we didn’t drive the car (we will around the middle of the year), the attention to detail inside the cabin and aimed toward passengers blew us away.

How Are You Doing?

When someone asks you that question, chances are your response isn’t entirely honest or complete. The 2023 Genesis G90 tries to change this with a feature focused on your mood. Depending on your emotions, Mood Curator adjusts the ambient lighting and sound system while the window shades open or close automatically, and a fragrance sprays through the air vents to relax you. The massaging seats are also enabled to enhance the experience. There are four different mood modes, and you may customize each of them.

If that’s not impressive enough, perhaps the reclining rear seats with footrests are. The seats recline a fair amount, though not business-class flat. With the front passenger seat and seat back in their forward-most positions, the Genesis G90’s reclined rear seat can accommodate adults who are up to around 5-foot-9. This scribe stands just taller than 6 feet, and my feet touched the front seat back during full recline.

Your mood might also be enhanced by the 23-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, which positions speakers in key areas of the 2023 Genesis G90’s cabin. Although the car is equipped with a ton of sound-deadening material, the system minimizes exterior noise by adjusting the in-car noise depending on the speed at which the vehicle travels.

Indeed, the attention to detail is so extensive, the blind-spot monitor “beep” sounds its alarm only through the driver’s headrest speakers without distracting the rest of the occupants. We didn’t get to test this feature, but we were massively impressed by how much Genesis designers and engineers focused their attention on everyone traveling in the vehicle.

Screens Without The Overload

Screens have become a big feature in luxury cars. Porsche, Mercedes, and even Jeep have now placed displays running from one corner of the dash to the other. Genesis, however, opted to take a different route while keeping a clean cabin design. .The digital instrument cluster is flanked by a wing-like design that separates it from the infotainment display, making the cabin feel premium but without the screen overload. Buttons for the infotainment are placed under the slim air vents, and the driver or front passenger can operate the screen via touch or a rotary knob located next to the rotary shifter on the center console.

ear passengers can also control the sound system, temperature, and other features via a screen located in the rear center console. The 8.0-inch touch display found in the center armrest can also be used to adjust seat position, massage settings, curtains, and ambient lighting.

Another fun feature found in the G90 sees all four doors close with the push of a button located on the center console or on the door panel.

New Materials, Great Quality

While the 2023 Genesis G90 will be available with different interior options, the one we had access to at the Riviera Country Club featured crushed carbon-fiber trim with metal inlays, which looks contemporary and elegant. It’s something we haven’t seen before, and we applaud Genesis for trying something new and coming up with fresh ideas. The door panels’ metal inlays carried the same diamond pattern as the grille.

Of course, there will be various trims available if the crushed carbon-fiber isn’t your thing. The manufacturer will offer wood and other materials when the 2023 Genesis G90 arrives in U.S. dealers by the middle of 2022.

2023 Genesis G90 Review

What is the Genesis G90?

Just over a decade ago, Hyundai launched the Equus — a large sedan that aimed to beat serious metal like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series and Audi A8 at their own game. It didn’t quite succeed, but a precedent was set. The South Korean automaker was coming for the German triumvirate.

The 2023 Genesis G90 you see here is the culmination of learnings developed since that first Equus and its successor, the 2017-2022 G90. This second-generation G90 is fully overhauled inside and out, sporting a redesigned exterior and interior that leans into Genesis’ bold design language. We recently had a chance to check it for ourselves, and we left impressed. If the G90 feels as good on the road as it looks in person, we may see an upset in the large luxury sedan segment when it launches later this year.

What’s under the G90’s hood?

Genesis confirms that its turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine will power the Korean G90, and we expect it to be standard stateside as well — likely hooked to an eight-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive. We wouldn’t be surprised if electrification plays a part of the G90’s story since Genesis is already working on the fully electric Electrified GV70 and Electrified G80 models.

How’s the G90’s interior?

Inside and out, the 2023 Genesis G90 is a design tour de force. Blending modern forms with classic detailing, the G90 leads with distinction rather than following with mimicry. The cabin is trimmed in leather, wood, glass and aluminum, and it features front and rear seats with heating, ventilation and massage. Sound-deadening materials and active noise cancellation technology help ensure a quiet ride. The cabin’s overall look isn’t too dissimilar from that of GV80, but it’s clear the G90’s materials and build quality are a notch above.

How’s the G90’s tech?

Digital instrumentation and a widescreen infotainment display dominate the upper half of the dashboard, but Genesis wisely retains a handful of physical controls for commonly accessed functions. The new Mood Curator suite tailors multiple features — including air fragrances, ambient cabin lighting, and the 23-speaker Bang & Olufsen high-end audio system — to create different moods for the cabin. The Korean model’s air suspension, rear-seat control panel and remote parking using the key fob are features that should all make the trip across the Pacific.
