Like the slightly larger Infinti QX50 before it, the FX-inspired 2023 Infiniti QX55 now comes loaded with the brand’s grouping of safety features, with an additional upgrades including standard perforated leather seating in a new elevated lineup that drops the old base-level Pure trim from last year’s model.

The 2023 QX55 now comes in Luxe, Essential, and Sensory trim flavors, all of which now include an integrated three-year maintenance program (that’s spread to the entire Infiniti lineup now—whether you buy or lease). That includes vehicle inspections, tire rotations, and oil changes, all with the goal of improving the brand’s customer satisfaction.

The big news comes with the newly standard advanced safety features. Catching up with the QX50 sibling’s standard offering, these include Infiniti’s ProPILOT Assist with Intelligent Cruise Control that features Full-Speed Range and Hold with Steering Assist, supporting drivers in stop-and-go traffic and in highway driving by assisting with the acceleration, braking and steering controls. Blind Spot Intervention has also been added among the standard safety features.

Also newly standard on all three trims are the previously mentioned perforated leather seat surfaces, auto-folding and heated side-view mirrors, rear door handles with integrated LED welcome lighting, a four-way driver power lumbar seat adjustment, and a USB-C charging port has been added for rear seat passengers. Dual touchscreens are standard on every trim, and every QX55 comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and USB Android Auto connectivity, with five USB ports total.

The Luxe trim starts at $49,150 and includes all of the features mentioned above. The Essential trim starts at $54,250 and adds Traffic Sign Recognition and a unique cubic LED design in the headlights with auto-leveling and adaptive front lighting. The top-level Sensory trim is priced from $57,800 and builds upon the Essential trim to gain a 9-inch heads-up display unit, second row heated seats, and the passenger gets the same four-way power lumbar adjustment as the driver’s chair.

Since it was just introduced a couple of years ago, the QX55’s powertrain carries over for 2023. Each model gets a 268 horsepower “Variable Compression” turbocharged 2.0 liter four-pot good for 280 lb-ft of torque. Balancing power with (theoretical) efficiency, the engine can nearly seamlessly vary its compression ratio between 8:1 and 14:1.

It’s linked to a CVT (continuously variable transmission) featuring steering-mounted paddle shifters, with Standard, ECO, Sport, and Personal driving modes. All North American models get all-wheel drive as standard (with 8.6 inches of ground clearance), with an active brake limited slip system that can brake individual wheels for improved traction when needed.
