2023 Mercedes Maybach GLS900 BRABUS, All you want to know & watch about a Great Car
Brabus is back with another creation, this time tuning the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600. It’s got a number of visual upgrades inside and out, though the most significant news lies under the hood. The Brabus 900 gets its name from the engine’s output, and Brabus achieved this with an assortment of aftermarket upgrades that go well beyond increasing the SUV’s performance numbers.
Brabus cranks up the engine’s output by increasing its displacement from 4.0 to 4.5 liters and calls it the Brabus Rocket 900 V8. A pair of larger, custom-made turbochargers increase boost pressure, allowing the modified mill to make 900 horsepower (662 kilowatts) and up to 922 pound-feet (1,250 Newton-meters) of torque.
However, Brabus limits the amount of twist to 775 lb-ft (1,050 Nm) to protect the powertrain, which the tuner backs with a three-year or 62,000-mile (100,000-kilometer) warranty.
Brabus also modified the engine’s intake and fuel system while adding a high-performance stainless steel exhaust to help increase the output. The exhaust, which the driver can actively control, pokes through the new rear diffuser with large, rectangular tailpipes. The new exhaust and bumper are just a few of the new exterior bits that Brabus adds, which enhance the SUV’s appearance and play an essential role in its aerodynamics. The new carbon bits help reduce lift at high speeds.
Visually, the tuner tweaks the front and rear-end styling thanks to new carbon bits. Brabus finishes the radiator grille and exterior trim in Shadow Gray, just like the 24-inch forged Monoblock M wheels. Inside, Brabus finished the GLS in two-tone black-and-cream-colored leather. However, Brabus builds each car to order, and the tuner offers a wide assortment of interior finishes.
Brabus says the large luxury SUV will hit 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers) while on its way to a 200-mph (320-kph) top speed. The GLS also receives modifications to the air suspension, which lowers the GLS by about 1 inch (25 millimeters).
The Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 is in no way deficient in power or luxury, but Brabus always finds a way to add more. The Brabus 900 is way more potent than the standard Maybach GLS while looking different thanks to the tuner’s visual upgrades.

All-new Mercedes-Benz GLS puts luxury at forefront
Mercedes-Benz has replaced the oldest model in its range – the GLS – with an all-new version.
Revealed at the New York motor show, the updated GLS aims to take on rivals such as the Range Rover and new BMW X7 by majoring on luxury, refinement and prestige.
It’s certainly imposing enough to compete. Mercedes says the GLS has a “confident presence” and “impressive dimensions” – that may just be slang for “enormous”. At 5.2 metres in length and nearly two metres in width, it’s bigger than a Range Rover, BMW X7 or even a Bentley Bentayga.
With 6cm added to the wheelbase, the new GLS offers a great improvement in passenger space, claims Mercedes. While seven seats will be standard, Mercedes can fit a pair of captain’s chairs in place of the middle bench as an option, making for an ultra-luxurious six-seater.
There are few surprises with the styling of this new flagship – it takes the cues seen on the GLC and GLE SUVs and stretches them to fit a larger body. Although the bold grille is undeniably the dominant item on the car’s nose, Mercedes has resisted the temptation to “do a BMW” and stretch it into an enormous, caricatured feature.
There’s little to be surprised about inside, either. The GLS’s dashboard uses the same design as all current Mercedes models, concealing a pair of vast infotainment screens behind a seamless glass cover. A touchpad interface controls the MBUX operating system, while passengers can interact with the in-built voice assistant simply by saying “Hey Mercedes”.
Internationally, Mercedes will offer three six-cylinder engines and one V8 – two each of petrol and diesel. However, European buyers are only expected to get six-cylinder diesel options. The 350 d is a 3.0-litre straight-six with 290hp and 600Nm of torque, reportedly capable of up to 37mpg. The 400 d offers 330hp from the same engine and promises the same fuel economy.
Both will be paired with a nine-speed automatic gearbox and 4Matic four-wheel drive. Although the GLS is unlikely to be as proficient a mud-plugger as a Range Rover, an optional off-road package will provide some underbody protection and a low-range transfer case.
AMG performance models will arrive next year, while a plug-in hybrid can be expected to follow as well.
The new GLS will be built in Mercedes’ plant in Alabama. It’s expected to arrive at UK dealerships in the summer, priced from around £75,000.
Mercedes Maybach GLS based Brabus 900 given 662 kW treatment
If you’re a sucker for ‘ain’t no replacement for displacement’ the latest Brabus 900 should tickle your fancy. The latest GLS based SUV now pushes out 662 kW from a larger displaced V8 while exterior and interior upgrades give it as much bark as its bite.
The latest Brabus creation isn’t another high end German model with a new ECU paired with to an intake/exhaust upgrade with some bits of exterior carbon. This goes far beyond what most aftermarket tuning companies are willing to tinker with since the Brabus 900 has had its engine displacement increased from 4-litres to 4.5-litres while a pair of custom-made turbochargers increase boost pressure allowing the behemoth to crank out 900 hp (662 kW) – hence the name.
The mechanicals further include a modified intake and exhaust while the fuel system has been reworked too. The exhaust pipes allude to this modification neatly protruding from the diffuser with large rectangular tips. All of the sonorous V8 burbles are adjustable by the driver with active exhaust control.
To protect the powertrain from excessive strain, the German tuner has limited the Brabus 900 to 1,050 N.m only – but it is stated to be capable of more. All of the above is backed with a three-year, 100,000 km warranty which should instil peace of mind when launching this exuberant land yacht from robot-to-robot.
On the cosmetic front, new exterior carbon bits found around the Brabus 900 help mitigate lift at high speed, keeping the 24-inch forged Monoblock M wheels on slim tyres planted to the road. The radiator grille and exterior trim is finished in ominous Shadow Gray like the impactful wheels. The stance of the SUV is also improved with a 25 mm lowering compliments of air suspension.
Each Brabus 900 is built to order, which means buyers can spec theirs in an assortment of interior finishes. Pricing isn’t known yet but we can only imagine that since a GLS 600 costs a smidge over R3 M alone, the latest Brabus price tag will likely make eyes water.
