2023 Toyota Tundra, Everything We Know About the Big SUV

With a new Tundra comes a new Sequoia SUV. Right

While the Toyota Tundra benefits from a complete redesign for 2022, its SUV kin, the Sequoia, carries over unchanged for 2022. Nevertheless, we think these two full-size models will once again share mechanical components come the 2023 model year.

Look for the 2023 toyota sequoia to once again crib its powertrain and platform from the latest Tundra. As in previous generations, the Sequoia ought to ride on a shorter wheelbase than the Tundra, allowing it to compete with the Chevrolet Tahoe, Ford Expedition, GMC Yukon, and Nissan Armada. It’s possible a long-wheelbase Sequoia also enters the mix to go head-to-head with the Suburban, Expedition Max, and Yukon XL. Regardless, we wager the Sequoia will once again swap its truck counterpart’s (newly coil-sprung) live rear axle for an independent setup.

Like the Tundra, the next-generation Sequoia ought to trade the current SUV’s burly V-8 engine for a 3.4-liter twin-turbo V-6. Dubbed i-Force, the forced induction engine belts out 389 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. We fully expect the Tundra’s 437-hp gasoline-electric hybrid i-Force Max powertrain to find its way under the Sequoia’s hood as an optional extra, as well. An eventual TRD Pro model seems like a given at this point, too.

Although we’ve yet to hear anything official related to the 2023 toyota sequoia, we anticipate this will change soon, with the Japanese automaker likely unveiling the big SUV sometime in 2022. Look for sales to follow shortly thereafter.
