Audi: New Competition packs for the RS 4 Avant and RS 5
With adjustable shock absorbers and an RS Plus sports exhaust, among other things, the new competition package of the Audi RS 4 Avant and RS 5 makes them even more efficient.
As part of a thorough tune-up, Audi Sport GmbH is enhancing the sportiness of the Audi RS 4 Avant and Audi RS 5. The new competition package is full of additional elements that accentuate their sporty appearance and make their driving even richer in emotions (matrix LED headlights, specific upholstery, etc.).
There is also a maximum speed increased to 290 km/h and a new “RS plus” sports exhaust line with a more intense sound, produced not only by the exhaust system itself, but also thanks to the reduction of soundproofing between the engine compartment and the passenger compartment. A modification that also reduces the weight of the car by about 8 kg. Enough to save 0.2 s on the 0 to 100 km/h for the RS 4 Avant (3.9 s) and 0.1 s for the RS 5 (3.8 s).
The RS Competition Plus package adds to this dynamic steering and the advanced quattro sport differential, especially in the “dynamic” driving mode, favouring the rear axle. In addition, an update to the gearbox software reduces shift times and significantly improves the differences between the various driving modes. In addition, the increase in dynamic capabilities necessitated the strengthening of the braking system.
The combination of pirelli P Zero Corsa, a new ABS software setting and RS ceramic brakes shortens the braking distance from 100 to 0 km/h by up to 2 m. But the highlight of the show of the RS Competition Plus pack are shock absorbers allowing height adjustment (up to 20 mm less than the standard model), but also reactions in compression and expansion. They are combined with stiffer stabilizer bars.
Bad news: in France only the Competition package will be offered, and only on the Audi R S 4 Avant. This one is available from 98.410 €, sum to which it will be necessary to count an additional of some 8.000 € for the pack. Excluding ecological malus, of course…
