BMW M3: And now, the station wagon!

CAR BMW M GmbH’s model offensive continues in the year of its 50th anniversary, with the addition of a fourth model type to the BMW M3/M4 range alongside the sedan, coupe and convertible: the BMW M3 Touring.

The BMW M3 Touring is first and foremost an engine. The 3-liter inline 6-cylinder supercharged by 2 turbos develops 510 hp and 650 Nm. Its cooling and oil supply systems are designed to withstand extremely high longitudinal and lateral dynamic forces on the track. The M-specific exhaust system, featuring electrically operated valves, generates an emotional soundtrack that adds an extra dimension to the performance experience.This engine is paired with an 8-speed M Steptronic gearbox and an MxDrive all-wheel drive system that teams up with the active M differential on the rear axle. Note that on demand, the all-wheel drive can be deactivated, and the M3 Touring is thus transformed into pure propulsion. The 0 to 100 km/h is announced in 3.6 s, the 0 to 200 km/h in 12.9 s and by opting for the M Driver’s Package package, the electronically limited maximum speed increases from 250 km/h to 280 km/h.

Since this is a station wagon, the backrest of the rear seat can be folded down according to the 40/20/40 scheme. The useful volume can thus be increased from 500 liters to 1,510 liters. Automatic tailgate control and the separately opening rear window are both standard. A storage compartment under the trunk floor allows the luggage cover and the separation net to be stored. Non-slip rails that automatically rise from the trunk floor can be ordered as an option. They prevent luggage from slipping in dynamic driving situations.

Production of the BMW M3 Touring will begin in November 2022 at the Munich plant, alongside the M3 Sedan.
