Tesla accused of lying about its autonomous driving functions

« Tesla has made or disseminated false or misleading statements, and not based on facts,” the DMV said in the complaints filed July 28, the Los Angeles Times said. “T e s l a cars have never been able, and today cannot, function as autonomous vehicles,” according to the document cited by the California newspaper. The DMV blames Tesla for an advertising language that gives its systems wider performance than they actually are.
A victory of the Californian authority against the manufacturer of electric vehicles could lead to severe consequences, going as far as the revocation of licenses allowing Tesla to manufacture or sell its cars in California, says the LA Times, which specifies that the measures envisaged concern rather the accuracy of the information that the manufacturer will have to provide to its customers.
