Tulum Eco Tourism
Tulum Eco Tourism: Tulum is simply the gem of the Mayan Riviera corridor. It is a diver paradise Subterranean rivers unite from all over the Yucatan Peninsula and the Riviera Maya of Mexico. Tulum is divided into three main areas: Tulum Town, Tulum Hotel Zone and the magical Tulum Archaeological site. The Town is settled at the edges of the 307 highway, where commercial and social activities take place. It is 130km/80 miles from Cancún.
Tulum’s magic begins in its splendid archeological sites. It is the most popular of Mexico’s Mayan sites, and for several good reasons. Tulum is surrounded by three walls and with the ocean forming the fourth boundary the city was designed to be defensive.
Tulum is one of the most visited of all Mayan ruins, and it’s also the only major Mayan ruin to be found along Mexico’s Caribbean coastline on the “Riviera Maya”. Tulum is without doubt the most exquisite ancient site in the Maya world and considered to be one of the most beautiful Mayan archaeological sites. Tulum is by no means the largest, but its location serves as a striking backdrop to its history.
Tulum is more than a sunny escape: it has expansive Mayan ruins, swimmable, fresh-water springs and stunning ecotourism. It is the combination of a beach coastline, archeological zone, and town. Tulum offers its visitors an excellent place physical and spiritual relaxation, the possibility of practicing meditation, yoga or taking a traditional Maya Temazcal steam bath, or enjoy a delighted beach massage.
Tulum hotel zone was built with a natural and simple architecture, to virtually blend into the natural surroundings. It leans towards the beach cabana style, offering everything from simple accommodation options to newer, more costly chic style palapas. The hotel zone is a mile east on the beach, as do the famous Mayan Tulum ruins. Hotels just steps away from the the beach which are for the most part, small, low-rise and quite simple. Tulum hotel zone has just few hotels and cottages in this extension of 9km, coming from the town and turning left you have 3 km and turning right the others 6 km.
Tulum is also surrounded by lush jungle full of crystal clear freshwater pools called cenotes that offer a refreshing reprise from the tropical environment. Tulum can get crowded and hot, so it is best to visit in the morning before the cruise boat and bus groups arrive around 10:00Tulum is also famous for its cenotes; Mother Nature’s own crystalline fresh water pools which are immersed in history and Maya ritual. Their Tulum hotels have very different styles, prices and amenities. Tulum is truly the destination for eco tourism, nature, quiet, sun and history lovers.
