2023 Mercedes Benz GLC Class: Release Date, Price, and Specs
The revamping of the Mercedes-Benz lineup continues. Following the redesign of the C-Class, the GLC-Class SUV, which is mechanically similar, will get an overhaul for the 2023 model year. Find out the release date, price, and specs of the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class.
When will the 2023 Mercedes Benz GLC Class be released and available?
The release date of the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class will likely be in early 2023. The 2023 GLC will be available to buy at Mercedes-Benz dealerships throughout the United States, as well as in select international markets.
How much does the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class cost?
Mercedes-Benz didn’t yet release the price information for the 2023 GLC-Class. However, given the redesign and feature upgrades, the 2023 GLC will undoubtedly cost more than the 2022 GLC. The starting price of the 2022 GLC ranges from $43,850 MSRP for the GLC300 trim up to $66,500 MSRP for the AMG GLC43 Coupe 4MATIC trim.
2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class specs: Hybrid base engine
Like the base-level Mercedes-Benz Class, the base-level 2023 GLC-Class SUV will have a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four-cylinder engine and a 48-volt hybrid system. The output of the hybrid engine, which is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, is 255 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Rear-wheel drive will be standard, while the 4Matic all-wheel drive system will be optional.
According to Car and Driver, “More powerful AMG variants will follow and may use the same hybrid four-cylinder powertrains expected for the C43 and C63 AMG, with the latter expected to produce over 500 horsepower.” Also, in the U.S., the GLC will offer at least one plug-in hybrid version.
2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class: Exterior and interior design and features
Mercedes-Benz revealed images of a camouflaged prototype version of the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class SUV undergoing winter testing in Arjeplog, Sweden. We don’t have a clear view of the new design with the camouflage wrap. However, the 2023 GLC appears to be bigger than the 2022 GLC, with a wider stance and larger rear fenders. Additional exterior design features include a larger grille, a rising window line, slim headlights and taillights, and five-spoke wheels with a triangular design.
Images of the 2023 GLC’s interior are not available. However, the dashboard and cabin of the GLC will likely look very similar to the C-Class. Also, Mercedes-Benz says that the GLC will have a “new steering wheel, the latest MBUX infotainment software, and large screens including a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and an 11.9-inch central infotainment screen.”
Additionally, the GLC will have upgrades to its driving assistance technologies. This includes a new surround-view camera system, augmented reality navigation, and a new active steering assist system that can function at higher speeds.

2023 Mercedes Benz GLC Class Reveal Date Set, Prototype Shows New Design
Mercedes teases the design of the next-gen GLC, which will make its world debut online on June 1 and is expected to arrive later this year.
MERCEDES-BENZ
The next-generation 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC-class will be revealed online to the world on June 1, 2022.
The new compact luxury SUV looks similar to the current model but should include new features.
The base GLC300 model will share its 255-hp turbo 2.0-liter inline-four with the C-class sedan.
UPDATE 5/16: Mercedes announces that the next-generation GLC-class will make its world debut online at 11 a.m. ET on Wednesday, June 1. The digital reveal will be broadcast on the company’s “me media” online platform as well as Mercedes social channels including YouTube and Twitter.
The Mercedes C-class sedan’s SUV sibling is slated to get a redesign soon, and these are the first official photos of the new 2023 GLC-class compact luxury crossover. This prototype seen undergoing winter testing still has a bit of camouflage, but we can clearly see its overall shape and proportions, and Mercedes has revealed some specs about this new X254-generation model that should arrive in the U.S. later this year.
MERCEDES-BENZ
The new model appears to be a bit larger than before, with a wider stance and more bulbous rear fenders. The five-spoke wheels on this prototype have an interesting triangular design, and the slim headlights and taillights look similar to the C-class sedan’s. Mercedes hasn’t released photos of the interior yet but says it will have a new steering wheel, the latest MBUX infotainment software, and large screens including a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and an 11.9-inch central infotainment screen.
We anticipate the base model to again be called the GLC300, as it will share the C300 sedan’s turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four and 48-volt hybrid system. This combination will produce 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. 4Matic all-wheel drive will likely be optional, with rear-wheel drive standard, as the new GLC once again shares its platform with the C-class. More powerful AMG variants will follow and may use the same hybrid four-cylinder powertrains expected for the C43 and C63 AMG, with the latter expected to produce over 500 horsepower.

2023 Mercedes GLC Reportedly Debuting On June 1
The six-cylinder diesel engine will pack over 300 horsepower.
With the new C-Class out in sedan and wagon body styles, Mercedes is now putting the finishing touches on the equivalent crossover. The revamped GLC is apparently set to break cover on June 1, according to a German report from MB Passion. The same source also provides some juicy tidbits about the technical specifications, including rear-wheel steering at a maximum angle of 4.5 degrees. It’ll reduce the turning circle to 10.8 meters (35.4 feet).
In addition, we get to learn the GLC will grow in size and reach 4.72 meters (185.8 inches) long whereas the outgoing model measures 4.65 meters (183.3 inches). The compact crossover’s wheelbase will be stretched by 15 mm (0.6 inches) and the cargo capacity will grow by 50 liters to 600 liters (21.1 cubic feet).
To the surprise of no one, the GLC will essentially carry over the high-tech cabin of the C-Class, but the screens will be located a tad higher. The stretched wheelbase will unlock additional legroom for rear passengers compared to the outgoing model, which has been the case for the sedan and wagon as well.
According to the same source, Mercedes will launch the GLC in Europe with combustion engines featuring 48-volt, mild-hybrid tech, and a 23-hp electric motor. There are plans for three plug-in hybrids, two with gasoline engines (300e and 400e) and one with a diesel (300de). All will have 4Matic all-wheel drive as standard and an electric range of more than 62 miles (100 kilometers) in the WLTP cycle. Owners will be able to juice up the battery pack of the PHEV at up to 60 kW.
Unlike the C-Class with its four-cylinder-only lineup, the GLC will still offer six-cylinder power. It’ll be an oil-burner that goes by the OM 656M codename and is going to pack over 300 horsepower. As for the four-bangers, the gasoline units will be offered with 204 hp and 258 hp while the diesels will be rated at 194 hp and 265 hp.
Following its June 1 world premiere, the new Mercedes GLC will go on sale in Europe in September. The US version is expected to arrive at a later date. Further down the line, spy shots have revealed two AMG versions will be launched. We should learn more about the hot versions in the coming months when the C-Class will get the “53” and “63” treatment.
